Prof. Dr. Udan Kusmawan
Udan Kusmawan, M.A., Ph.D., is a senior academic at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Terbuka, Indonesia. Born on April 5, 1969, in Sumedang, West Java, he has focused much of his career on enhancing educational practices, particularly within the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) disciplines, through the development of innovative and scalable practicum & teaching modules.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Citizenship Education from The University of Newcastle, Australia, and acquired his Master of Arts in Science Education at The University of Iowa, USA. His educational journey began with a Bachelor's degree from Indonesia Education University, laying the foundation for his career. His teaching and research have consistently focused on curriculum development, digital course design, and evaluation in the digital era. He possesses a keen interest in examining student attitudes towards science and the environment, enhancing digital competencies, and implementing virtual labs in distance education, demonstrating his commitment to evolving educational methodologies.
Prof. Udan has served in various significant roles, including as Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Universitas Terbuka. He is recognised as a certified research professional and serves as chief editor for several international journals. Additionally, he has founded various digital and online competencies evaluation applications.
He has also contributed to the development of educational books and modules, innovative digital solutions, and notable research publications.
Presently, Prof. Udan is keenly exploring how Al and Avatars can facilitate teacher professional development activities, specifically relating to the Al-Bloom Taxonomy, aiming to integrate these technologies into teaching strategies effectively .
